Tuttle Conard’s “Designer Women made by God” is a fantastic read in
every sense of the word. It is as engaging as it is informative,
never
once leaving the reader with any hint of regret for picking up this
book.
The book centers around marvelous women of the Bible. The
book is split in two parts as to adequately describe both the Old and
New Testament women of the Scripture. Each part has an
introduction
that relates to the real world in contemporary times, whilst
juxtaposing how God used the women as his proclaimers of his
Word.
Five different types of women are explained in detail in each part of
the book (there are actually about six or seven each since some
chapters cover more than one woman at once). At the end of each
chapter is a gracefully delightful poem written by Conard herself.
The
women discussed involve: Eve, Zelophehad’s daughters, Zipporah, Hagar,
Ruth, the crippled woman, Anna, Elizabeth, Mary, Dorcas and
Priscilla.
Each woman’s story is told, with inserted statements that make these
ancient women more modern. Conard quotes the Scripture and then
writes
her own way that events may have happened [in modern English to support
the olde English].
What makes Conard’s book so great is that it
is so fresh. She manages to quote the Bible correctly and talk
about
how each female figure was inspirational, but the real icing on the
cake is that she relates it back to the reader. Conard teaches
readers
how to emulate each of the women exalted and what means in their
individual lives. While anyone can read this book, women will
benefit
the most from it. For Christians, they’ll enjoy a book that gives
them
enough background to support their faith, supplied with enough
pertinent information to make them better daughters of God.
