Broderick
Maxwell is a Scottish spy who is certain to die if he
doesn't escape from the Tower of London.
On a stolen horse he gets away with the help of Lizabeth Ives,
the Lord
High Executioner's own daughter. Together
they ride away, not knowing what will become of their lives. They can not turn back and their only hope of
survival is to leave England.
They
head towards Broderick's home land of Scotland, the only
place both know they will be safe. It is
1483 and so many changes are taking place and a lot of wars are still
to be
fought and won. Will the unlikely pair
make it to safety? Will they both give
in to their feelings for each other or will they go their separate ways?
This
is a historical romance with a lot of sexual tension and a hot looking
Scot! I have to admit that I am not
usually one for historical books of any kind but the medieval setting
in this
one appealed to me and I enjoyed the novel more than I expected to. A piece of fiction with real history
intertwined
into it, 'Her One Desire' is something readers can really get their
teeth stuck
into.
The
first half of the book, while exciting, is nothing more than foreplay
for what
is to come. The second half of the book
is more lighthearted and fun but it still keeps to the main storyline
that the
author has obviously taken time and research to construct.
The main characters are extremely likable and
the excitement surrounding their relationship is teasingly addictive.
A
pleasure to read, Her One Desire is the first release by Kimberly
Killion and
hopefully not her last. This writer
seems to have a good eye where historical fiction and romance are
concerned and
I am sure a lot of readers who enjoy this genre will be happy to see
her write
more.
