Imagine, if you will, an archeologist on a quest to find one of the most sought after religious artifacts in history. While this concept may sound somewhat familiar, I am not describing Raiders of the Lost Ark and the historical pursuits of Indiana Jones. Instead, I am describing a major component of the plot of Hunting the King by Peter Clenott.

Instead of Harrison Ford as the main character, we have a complicated, richly developed woman by the name of Molly O Dwyer. Molly has spent years studying the gospels of Hannaniah and eventually came to believe Hannaniah was the daughter of Jesus. After facing scorn from the Catholic Church, Molly decided to put her beliefs aside because her findings could destroy the church and the faith of millions of Christians. Then, one day, a world renowned archeologist by the name of Dr. Nina Cavalcante showed her some clues from a diary. These clues reinvigorated Molly's intuitions and beliefs and fired her passions. Together with Nina and her assistant, a handsome and mysterious man Teodor Kwiatkowski, Molly travels across the world to uncover the burial site which may hold the remains of Jesus. Unfortunately the group must travel through Iraq during the beginning of the war to get there. Lots of chaos ensues and the action doesn’t disappoint.

There is a lot of intensity and danger in this story. Molly must survive bombs, bad guys, betrayal, and supernatural forces to uncover the truth. She even manages to fall in love. Peter Clenott did his research in putting together this complete story. Hunting the King is rich with detail from the culture of Iraq. It also incorporates his unique knowledge of religious history. The story itself is easy to follow and the novel flows perfectly. There are more twists and turns then a bag of rotini. Will Molly’s revelation change the perceptions and long held beliefs about history and the world? You will just have to grab this book and hold on tight. As the reader you are taken on a riveting and energetic ride.
