Miles is a little moose who is anxiously anticipating a fishing trip with his Papa.  While he and his family are having a picnic, Miles starts to feel his tummy aching.  It’s not long before Miles is sick, complete with vomiting and, the next day, diarrhea.  Will Miles still get to go on his camping trip, or will his tummy ache stop his plans with his Papa.

Moose with Loose Poops is designed to help kids understand what’s happening to them when they have a tummy ache.  It uses cute animals and simple easy to understand dialogue to help kids see what happens when they get sick, and see the best way to get over the illness.

The story line for Moose is simple and straight-forward.  Little Miles gets sick, and his family is there to help him, instruct him, and make sure he gets well soon.  It is a story that young kids will be able to relate to, especially if they have ever been sick with a stomach virus.  Plus, the book as written as a cute story, which will make it more fun for kids to read.

As a bonus for parents, there is a parental guide pamphlet tucked in the back of the book, so they know what to expect when their kids get sick.  It includes information on everything from how long these viruses usually last, how long kids should be out of school, and measures they can take to try and prevent the spread of the virus.

The illustrations in the book are colorful and fun, and go along well with the text.  They will make the subject matter of the story seem more fun, and less yucky for little ones.  While the pictures do illustrate well how little Miles is feeling, they get the point across without being at all gross.  In fact, the moose family is cute and fun for kids.

The book does a good job of making a fun story for kids as a way to show them what happens when they get sick, and this is a good tool for parents to have on hand for their little ones.  However, it does have a limited target audience because it seems to be geared mainly towards first-time parents.  If a parent already has several kids and have been through and explained stomach viruses to their other kids, they may not be as likely to pick up this book.

The Moose with Loose Poops is definitely a good way for parents to explain stomach bugs to kids in a fun and charming way.  Kids will enjoy the cute story and fun pictures, which will make explaining this type of subject easier for parents.
