Here is a nice new interview with the
multi talented Cinsiearae Santiago, author of The
Abraxas Series
and our own Ashley Merrill (who is now a huge fan!)
What
inspired
you to write the "Abraxas Series"?
It started out as just one story--a submission for a
contest
from
an e-book publisher. Although it wasn't picked, the writing bug--or
'bat', lol--kept me writing. After I wrote the first 'part', I
couldn't
just stop there. I had a slew of more ideas to keep the story going on
as a 'series'.
Do you ever
wish you could be any of the characters' in your story. If so, who and why?
I usually think that pretty often, believe it or not, lol.
Wouldn't it be fun to be a character from a story you wrote?
Have all
the adventures they have that you do not see in every day life?
Life is
so limited compared to the worlds we create in our minds!
Have you always
wanted to be a writer?
Yes, definitely. I started writing as early as third grade,
which
automatically made me an oddball compared to the other kiddies. I
didn't know what the writing process would entail as I embarked on that
endeavor, I just knew I loved to write and wanted to share it with
others. The rest would be a learn-as-you-go process as I got older!
Has anyone ever
chastised you for the subject matter that you choose to write about?
So far, no, lol. I'm very particular with who I
discuss
my writing projects to! I always make sure I talk with supportive folks
who share the same ideas and aspirations as I do.
Will the
"Abraxas Series" go beyond book 4???
Oh definitely, lol! I'm already making notes for
the
book 5, and I'm not even halfway through my first rough draft of part 4!
Who is your
favorite character(s) in the series and why?
I tend to lean towards the secondary characters. Kiera and
Edward,
Christine's new friends, are friends I wish I had, lol.
If you could give your book to one person, who would it be and why?
Oh, tough one. There's a couple of folks I wish I could give
a
copy to! (The vampire) Don Henrie definitely, and maybe lead singer
Ville Valo of H.I.M. (grin)
What is your writing process?
Can't really say I have a process, lol. The Muse just
hits me
over
the head at night sometimes and I write down bits and pieces of
whatever comes to me. Sometimes it's just a piece of dialogue between
characters from a conversation that I have yet to find out
about, or a
scene pops up in my head that I'll scribble down. It's like getting
puzzle pieces that get fitted into the story later on down the line.
What advice
would you give new authors?
Seek others with your interests, find support groups, and write
passionately. If writing's your true love, never stop. And avoid the
dream-killers---they serve no purpose in your life.
Thank you so
much for your time in answering these questions. It was a pleasure
reading books 1-3 of the "Abraxas "Series". I think I speak for your
whole fan base when I say that I CANNOT WAIT for book four to come
out!!! :-) Ashely Merrill, reviewer/interviewer
